Descent
I have never blogged. I had never considered it–even believed it to be the single largest waste for any person to do, with exceptions of those people who truly lead “interesting” lives. Even then, I never read their blogs. Now my life seems hardly interesting, but I feel the need now to have some forum to engage these dark times I now find myself. Time will only tell if these wounds will heal; until that time comes, I need to scream and shout and let it all out.
It may also be necessary to explain the name. When I was in college, I developed a fondness for American Political Philosophy. My favorite articles were the Federalist papers, wherein John Jay, Alexander Hamilton, and James Madison all wrote on the reasons the Constitution should be ratified, under the same pen name: Publius. I also took a liking to the example of singular leadership displayed by Louis XIV of France. I therefore combined the two, assuming the role of Publius XIV–of which I will try to follow in the footsteps of great men before me. It is an aspiration. And what greater thing can we aspire to be than great?
